General Compostable Liner Questions
Q. I don't know which size compostable liners to order for my caddy?
A. We have a list of councils and which size bags they are using on our website. Just tell us which council you are with and we will look the size up for you.
Q. I can't remember which size liners I ordered last time...
A. If you have ordered from us before we can look at your account and see which sizes you have ordered before.
Q. Are your liners suitable for all council food waste schemes?
A. Our compostable liners are fully certified to EN-13432 and carry the seedling logo. They are suitable for councils which accept these compostable bags. However, not all councils accept these liners in their food waste schemes, please check with your council before purchase, or call us as we can advise you on whether your local council will accept the compostable liners or not.
Q. Why am I getting moisture in the bottom of my kitchen caddy round the liner? Does it mean that the liner is leaking?
A. No, the liner is not leaking, this is just condensation forming between the liner and the caddy. If you want to, you can line the very bottom of the caddy with kitchen paper or newspaper to absorb the moisture, but this is not required.
Q. Why don't you sell a 5 litre liner to fit my 5 litre caddy?
A. The smallest liner we currently sell is a 7 litre liner, these will still fit a smaller caddy though, just with an overlap at the top which can be used to tie the bag securely shut.
Q. My liners look different and I can’t get them open...
A. Sometimes the liners are rolled by our manufacturer in a slightly different way. To open the liner, get the printed panel in the middle with the writing the right way up – the opening is directly above this panel.
Q. What's the difference between biodegradable and degradable?
A. Biodegradable means it is made of a material that will compost naturally and safely. Degradable is a type of plastic that is designed to fall apart, but still can take up to 40 years to fully degrade.
General Topiary Queries
Q. I am interested in a particular topiary shape, which is not on your website.
A. Please call us on 0117 330 2277 as we may be able to source different topiary shapes for you from our supplier, just let us know what shape you would like and we will find out if it is available.
Q. What is the difference between topiary items listed as 'frame', 'mossed' and 'planted' on your website?
A. All of our topiary items can be ordered in one of these 3 stages;
Frame only - literally the bare wire frame, you can then clip it over a plant, or even stuff it with moss yourself (moss available separately). Frames come in 2 parts and are supplied with cable clips so you can easily slip them over your plant (e.g. Box) and then clip the two parts together. The plant can then be trimmed to the frame to make the shape.
Mossed - Tthe wire frame, packed with sphagnum moss. This gives an immediate effect in the garden as you don't have to wait for a plant to grow and fill the frame. Requires no maintenance or watering, as the moss is already dried.
Mossed and planted - the wire frame, packed with sphagnum moss and then planted with a selection of plants. This gives an immediate effect in the garden and the plants add interest and texture. Requires watering.
Q. How do I look after a mossed & planted topiary item?
A. Just treat it as you would a hanging basket – water regularly and feed it once a year.
Q. What plants do you use in a mossed & planted topiary item?
A. The plants will vary depending on the shape of the topiary. For example, for a tortoise, we use sempervivum (house leeks) on the 'shell' to create the effect of the tortoises shell markings. For a horse or a lion, we would use grasses to create a mane effect.
Q. Can you supply a mossed topiary item planted with a particular plant I like?
A. We would suggest that you buy the item as just mossed and plant it up yourself in this instance.
